West Broad Street School seeks contributions for video montage

Stonington — With the 120-year-old West Broad Street School scheduled to be closed this fall as students and staff move to the newly expanded and renovated West Vine Street School, Alicia Sweet Dawe, who serves as the principal for both schools, has announced the school is creating a video diary montage “to pay tribute to this great landmark.”

Former students and teachers interested in sharing their memories, including pictures and artifacts, are asked to contact Dawe at adawe@stoningtonschools.org.

Contributors are asked to provide their name and the dates they attended the school, which now serves third- and fourth-grade students.

The town meanwhile is restarting the work of the Permanent Committee on the Needs and Uses of Town Public Buildings to determine what should be done with the school, whose most famous graduate is "Laugh-In" star Ruth Buzzi, once it closes.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
