Be an Angel: High Hopes seeking volunteers for equine therapy programs

High Hopes Therapeutic Riding is looking for volunteers of all ages to assist with campers in its inclusive summer camps and programs. After attending a general orientation, volunteers can serve as sidewalkers, feeders or office volunteers; those with prior horse experience may attend additional training sessions to become horse leaders.

No experience is required, and High Hopes encourages students ages 14 and up, seasonal residents and retirees to apply to volunteer, even for an hour a week. The organization staffs more than 650 volunteers a year to assist with its programming for children and adults with disabilities and people recovering from trauma.

For more information or to register for volunteer sessions at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23 and Tuesday, Aug. 13, visit highhopestr.org. High Hopes is located at 36 Town Woods Road in Old Lyme.

Be an Angel is a regular feature in the Times for individuals and organizations seeking community assistance. To submit, email times@theday.com.
