Local dance students compete in Greenwich

Several students from Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Mystic competed in the annual New England Colonial Classic in Greenwich Aug. 8–11.

One of the students, Estie Pieper, had this to say about the competition:

“I danced in my first competition after only four months of training at FADS Mystic and the experience left me wanting more for many reasons. I realized that ballroom competitions will give me a chance to test my learned skills and measure my progress against dancers at the same level, in addition to be able to watch more advanced students and learn from them.”

The following students competed with their instructors:

    • Dyana Fonda, 12 years at the studio, with instructor Vadim Asmolov.

    • Odera Taylor, seven years, with instructor Vadim Asmolov.

    • Charlene Lynch, four years, with instructors Vadim Asmolov, Felipe Puletini and Mladan Curcic.

    • Estie Peiper, one year, in second competition, with instructor Vadim Asmolov.

•Tina Minerva, one year, first competition, with instructor Felipe Puletini.

    • Joanne Nelson, 11 years, with instructor Vadim Asmolov.

    • Beatrice Rodgers, 11 years, with instructor Vadim Asmolov.
