    Ulysses B. Hammond, retired vice president at Connecticut College and former executive officer of the District of Columbia Court System, was recently appointed to Chelsea Groton Bank’s Board of Trustees. Hammond became a Corporator of the Bank in 2005. He has also been a Board Member of the Chelsea Groton Foundation since 2015. Hammond was president of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Trust Fund for 10 years and is a past Board Chair of Lawrence + Memorial Healthcare System, the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT and the United Way of Southeastern CT. He lives in Waterford.

    Joan O. Vorster of Stonington, a partner in the Boston law firm Mirick O'Connell's Litigation Group and a member of the firm's management committee, has been selected by her peers for inclusion in the 2020 edition of The Best Lawyers in America in the field of medical malpractice law. This is the first year Vorster has been recognized in Best Lawyers in this field. Vorster concentrates her practice in litigation involving medical malpractice and in business and insurance disputes. She defends physicians, hospitals and health care providers in medical malpractice and business disputes. She also represents physicians and other professionals before their professional licensing boards.
