    New London school board candidates to debate Wednesday

    New London — A debate among the candidates for New London’s Board of Education will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the New London Science & Technology Magnet High School.

    The League of Women Voters of Southeastern Connecticut, Centro de la Comunidad and the New London NAACP are sponsoring the debate.

    For the seven-member board, four incumbents are vying with six challengers. Incumbents include Republican candidate Susan Tierney and Democrats Regina Mosley, Jefferey Hart and Jason Catala.

    Candidates include Republican Robert Pero, Green Party candidate Sharmaine Gregor and Democrats Bryan Doughty, Elaine Maynard-Adams, Lee Cornish-Muller and Queenie Diaz.

    Beginning at 5 p.m., attendees can meet the candidates and submit written questions for the debate. The debate will run from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Candidates will be available to meet with the audience until 8 p.m.
