The Waterford Public Library recently held a two-part workshop and performance based on Julia Donaldson’s book “Room on the Broom.”

Local theater artist Carol Glynn created the script and choreographed the production of more than 30 children ages 4-9 in a performance for nearly 100 family and friends Tuesday, Oct. 29.

“This idea to reenact ‘Room on the Broom’ by acting it out came from one of our very own Waterford librarians, Shannon Henson, who thought of it herself during a storytelling class in graduate school and shared the idea,” Jen Smith, children’s librarian, said. “She says there have been studies done about bringing stories to life and the positive impact it has on the viewers. So we gave it a try here at the Waterford Public Library, and we’re impressed with the results and positive feedback we received.”
