    Getting a jump on Christmas

Matthew Marshall, director of visitor services, left, and David Rau, director of education and outreach, decorate one of Miss Florence's Artist Trees Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019 at the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme. Four trees on display during the museum's Magic of Christmas celebration will be decorated with 212 palettes created and donated by artists from around the country. The museum has collected palettes since 2004 and it added 17 new palettes this year for more than 200 in the museum's collection. To mark the occasion, the museum has published a book "Miss Florence's Artist Trees: Celebrating a Tradition of Painted Palettes". (Dana Jensen/The Day)
