A recent campaign by Grand Wine and Spirits netted nearly $1,600 for a local charity that supports veterans nationwide.

In addition to housing collection boxes for Work Vessels for Vets, Chuck Bowe, owner of Grand Wine and Spirits, created a promotion that donated $2 from selected wine and spirits purchased between Veterans’ Day and Pearl Harbor Day to the Mystic-based organization.

“This donation is just one more example of the many ways a community can come together to support our servicemen and women,” he said in a release. “It is a small gesture to extend our thanks to those who served, and are continuing to keep our nation safe. We thank Work Vessels for Vets for all they do in helping vets succeed.”

Work Vessels for Vets helps injured veterans start or continue their own businesses as they transition into civilian life. To date, the organization has donated more than $3 million in employment-related equipment. For more information, visit wvfv.org.
