Boston search firm to assist with search for new Norwich Free Academy head

Norwich — The Norwich Free Academy board of trustees has selected the same Boston-based search firm that helped bring current Head of School David Klein to NFA to conduct the search for Klein’s successor.

The board announced Friday it has partnered with Carney, Sandoe & Associates to assist in its search for a new Head of School. Klein will leave NFA June 30 to become president of St. Joseph High School in Trumbull.

“It was Carney, Sandoe & Associates who brought David Klein to us, so the Board of Trustees is confident in the firm’s ability to identify the next leader of Norwich Free Academy,” board Chairman DeVol Joyner said in a news release Friday.

Joyner added that the firm’s search process has begun, and a search committee comprising members of the board of trustees has been established. NFA did not disclose members of the search committee.

“We look forward to working with a pool of exceptionally qualified candidates to choose the next head of school,” Joyner said in the news release.

Based in Boston, Carney, Sandoe & Associates has conducted more than 1,800 successful searches since being established in 1977.

The NFA position was not yet listed among postings on the company’s website, carneysandoe.com, Friday afternoon.
