North Stonington — Ledge Light Health District will offer free flu shots and blood pressure screenings from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 15, at Wheeler Library, 101 Main St.

Flu shots are available to district residents on a first-come, first-served basis during February, which is American Heart Month.

“People with heart disease and those who have had a stroke are at higher risk for developing serious complications from flu," the Center for Disease Control and Prevention has announced. "If you have heart disease, or have had a stroke, it is especially important that you get a flu vaccine every flu season to protect against flu and its potentially serious complications.” 

Individuals must be 15 years or older to receive a flu shot. Those younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult. A consent form is required from each person receiving a shot. Forms can be downloaded from www.llhd.org or obtained at the clinic.
