Saint Bernard School sophomore Yufei Jin received a Gold Key from the Connecticut Regional Scholastic Art Awards for her acrylic painting “Falling Leaves.” The North Stonington resident’s painting was on display alongside other winners statewide at the University of Hartford’s Silpe Gallery.

In a release, Jin said her idea came from a hole in the canvas.

“The eyes can see through the hole in the wall to see the real world,” she said.
