New London — The Coast Guard rescued two people on an adrift sailboat on Long Island Sound off of New London on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The sailboat's halyard snapped and its engine stopped working, according to the Coast Guard.

A vessel from Coast Guard Station New London and the Coast Guard cutter patrol boat Coho rescued the two people on the 25-foot sailboat about 1:15 p.m., according to Sector Long Island Sound.

No one was injured and the boat was towed to the Green Harbor Marina, the Coast Guard said.
