    Salem Lions Club announces scholarships

Despite the cancellation of its annual scholarship dinner, the Salem Lions Club awarded $2,000 scholarships to Emma Belleville and Sophia Rogers. The scholarships are awarded to two graduating seniors in Salem.

Belleville, who will be attending Saint Anselm College, is a regular volunteer in town, helping with Vacation Bible School programs, food distribution with the United Way and costume design for Salem School’s production of “The Lion King.” She also volunteers at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, transporting patients between testing areas and discharge.

Rogers, who will be attending UConn in the fall, has received the Girl Scout Silver and Gold awards for her fundraising efforts, including a 100-mile walk to raise money after the Sandy Hook tragedy and purchasing pies from the annual Apple Festival for every veteran in town.
