Waterford — Lauren Michael, an educator with the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center and a freelance wildlife biologist, was leading a group of birdwatchers Saturday morning at Harkness Memorial State Park.

The group was looking for migrating and resident songbirds and raptors to be found there at this time of year.

The nature center hosts birding group gatherings on Saturdays 8 to 10 a.m. at different locations and people can sign up on its website, https://dpnc.org.
