Norwich — The rededication of the Italian Heritage Monument at Chelsea Parade will be held at noon on Saturday, Nov. 21.
The event is open to the public, with masks required due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The monument has been modified to remove an engraved image of Christopher Columbus and wording that referenced the 500th anniversary of Columbus’ 1492 voyage.
The monument was dedicated in 1992 by the Italian Heritage and Cultural Committee marking that anniversary but was designed to honor Italian immigrant settlers to Norwich. The monument was paid for by about 400 descendants of the Norwich Italians listed on the monument.
