Libraries all over the country have done their best to serve their communities throughout the pandemic. From digital Zoom programming, to remote reference services, to contactless pickup, libraries have had to think creatively to get important resources to people when they need them most.

Given recent spikes in case numbers, we’ve continued to adapt to prioritize people’s health and safety without sacrificing the quality of our services. As of Dec. 9, 67% of Connecticut libraries remain open to the public in some capacity.

Mystic and Noank Library has rejoined their ranks. Our new Library Director, Chris Bradley, and staff developed a safe reopening plan for this newest stage of the pandemic. We are grateful to move forward with her leadership and expertise.

For the foreseeable future, we will offer contactless pickup of books and other materials, and will open to the public for appointment only. Folks can call the library to schedule a one-hour appointments for computer use, or fifteen-minute appointments to use a printer.

Community members can request holds on materials using our online catalog, or by calling the library. A staff member will then call to arrange a time to pick up the materials when they’re ready.

We also offer Book a Librarian appointments remotely via phone or by Zoom. These appointments help people in navigate technology or other electronic resources now that it’s more necessary than ever to do so.
