New London offering aid to small businesses, nonprofits struggling with utility bills due to pandemic

New London — The city’s Office of Community and Economic Development is offering relief funding to small businesses and nonprofits struggling to pay their utility bills due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The aid, available in grants of $300 to $1,000, is the third phase of the city agency’s Small Business Emergency Relief Grant program and is funded by the CARES Act. The grants will be offered to entities “based on demonstrated need and priority points,” according to a news release. Only small businesses and nonprofits that did not receive funding in the previous round of grants are eligible for aid in this round.

Applications, which are available in both English and Spanish, will be accepted until 2 p.m. March 3. PDF application forms can be found on the city website, ci.new-london.ct.us. They can be submitted via the SERG 3.0 online application, emailed to jcox@newlondonct.org or applicants can call (860) 44-7-5243 to schedule a drop-off, as City Hall is closed to the public while under construction.
