Waterford Public Library hosts local landscape artist
John Sargent of Quaker Hill, former artist in residence at the ISAAC School in New London, will be displaying his artwork at the Waterford Public Library throughout May.
Sargent’s landscape paintings are inspired by local rivers, estuaries and tidal marshes. The exhibit will include a scene of Plum Island, N.Y., and two from the west coast of Scotland.
Sargent received his BFA from Ohio Wesleyan University, a two-year certificate from the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts and a masters in art education from Goddard College.
The Waterford Public Library at 49 Rope Ferry Road is open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. For information, visit www.waterfordpubliclibrary.org or contact the artist at sargjohn@gmail.com.
