Waterford — Jen Smith, children's librarian, has been leading outdoor storytimes at the Waterford Public Library.

"It's just so nice to be able to do this safely together," she said Tuesday.

Smith uses a microphone and large-scale books to make sure everyone can see and hear from a distance. "It's amazing to just see everyone's faces," she said.

The library had been holding virtual activities through the coronavirus pandemic and started holding small socially distanced events in March. For a full schedule and registration, visit waterfordct.org/library.
