    Norwich police swear in three new officer recruits

    Norwich — Three new police officer recruits with ties to southeastern Connecticut were sworn in Wednesday and will start training Friday at the Connecticut Police Academy.

    Upon completion of the academy training, with graduation scheduled for November, officer recruits Beckett Scannelli, Matthew Pagan and Megan Micklus will begin extensive field orientation training before being assigned a shift within the Norwich Police Department Patrol Division.

    Scannelli was raised in New London and graduated from New London High School in 2014. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sports and fitness from Mitchell College, graduating in 2018. He previously was employed as a lead security officer with Securitas Security in Mystic.

    Pagan was raised in East Lyme and graduated from East Lyme High School in 2015. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from Springfield College before attending Wilmington University, where he received his Master of Science in homeland security, graduating in January 2021. He previously was employed at Capitol Uniform, a family-owned business in Waterford.

    Micklus was raised in Groton and graduated from Fitch High School in 2017. After graduation, she attended American Professional Services in Norwich, where she obtained her EMT certification. She was previously employed by American Ambulance as an EMT.
