Ledyard High School seniors Bianca Planeta and Blake McLeod and Ledyard Middle School eighth-graders Megan Armstrong and Niko Cayangyang were recently recognized by the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education with a Student Leadership Award.

Students were nominated by their school principal on the basis of demonstrated leadership skills including: willingness to take on challenges; capability to make difficult decisions; concern for others; ability to work with others; willingness to commit to a project; diplomacy; ability to understand issues clearly; and ability to honor a commitment.

This year, 370 names of middle and high school students from 185 CABE member districts were submitted to receive the CABE Student Leadership Award.
