Norwich Memories: View from Upper Main Street

A photo taken around 1900 shows a view from upper Main Street, looking toward Shannon Corner and Franklin Square. A trolley can be seen heading toward the photographer. In the center is the Norwich Savings Society building, with the Shannon Building across the street. Eaton Chase was a major hardware store during this period. The Eaton Chase block was demolished in the early 1980s to build the courthouse.

Ken Keeley is the author of 12 pictorial books of Norwich history. To purchase any of his books he can be reached on FaceBook or via e-mail at: kenekjr000@comcast.net.
