Westerly -- The Jonnycake Center has announced its farmers market, in which residents can receive free fruits and vegetables, will operate Wednesday mornings through September in the rear of its parking lot at 23 Industrial Drive.

The market begins at 9 a.m. and lasts until supplies are gone, which is between 11 a.m. and noon. Representatives from service agencies will also be available to offer information and additional community resources.

Most of the produce comes from the Community Garden in Charlestown, R.I., which is operated by the Jonnycake Center. Other produce is provided by the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, donations from Westerly-area grocers, and individual private donations.
