East Lyme — Nate Padgett, a beach director with Connecticut State Parks and Forests, water safety coordinator Sarah Battistini and beach director Con Marrinan were testing an inflatable boat Thursday at Rocky Neck State Park.

As part of that, they were conducting mock rescues on the water.

The boat is used at Silver Sands Park in Milford as a tool for lifeguards to rescue people from sandbars when the tide rises and people panic.
