Your Turn: Kindness is a cup of hot cocoa
On Nov. 11 at about noon, we visited Mystic and stopped for hot chocolate at Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream shop on Main Street. It was a very cold Veterans Day and my 14-year-old granddaughter Marybeth Donovan spotted a female police officer and thought she looked very cold. Marybeth went to the counter and purchased another hot cocoa and brought it out to the officer.
Of course, I am her grandfather and am very proud of her thoughtfulness and willingness to walk out there and approach the officer, but I am hoping this can inspire other young children to always look for opportunities to help other fellowmen.
