Town of Groton to require masks in town facilities, starting Thursday

Groton — The Town of Groton has announced that it will require masks in town-owned facilities starting on Thursday, due to an uptick in COVID-19 cases.

"Due to the rapid increase in COVID cases in our area, visitors to Town of Groton-owned facilities will be required to wear masks beginning Thursday, December 23," the town said in a post on its Facebook page.

The state classifies Groton, along with all other municipalities across Connecticut except Warren, Sharon, Canaan, Norfolk and Colebrook, as in the "red" category with 15 or more COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population, according to a state map.

"Please continue to utilize safe practices and SERIOUSLY CONSIDER GETTING VACCINATED if you have not done so yet," the town said in a post last week.
