Montville — In response to the national blood shortage, the Mohegan Tribal Health Department and American Red Cross are hosting a blood drive at Mohegan Sun on Wednesday and all donors will receive a $10 Amazon gift card.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is an urgent need to increase blood supply levels, according to the Red Cross. Blood and platelet donations are critically needed to help prevent delays in vital medical treatments.

The blood drive is open to the public from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Uncas Ballroom at Mohegan Sun. Guests can go to redcrossblood.org and type "MOHEGAN" in the search box to sign-up. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are highly encouraged.

Guests can also expedite their donation experience by completing their pre-donation screening at redcrossblood.org/rapidpass.
