Waterford Country School wants stories for its 100th anniversary

Waterford — The Waterford Country School invites all former students, staff, parents, and family members to share their stories during its 100th anniversary in 2022.

The 100 Stories for 100 Years Campaign asks for people to submit their testimonials, memories, or anniversary wishes. Anyone can share their story using this google form: 100 Stories for 100 Years or by emailing memories to Elena French, the assistant director of development, at efrench@waterfordcs.org. To share memories another way, contact the Development Office at (860) 442-9454 x4106.

According to a news release, the agency that started as one family's desire to educate underserved children in the schools of Brooklyn, N.Y., has become a thriving nonprofit agency that still educates children from Southeastern Connecticut and all over the country. The agency has evolved over its 100 years but kept its core mission of helping children and families.

Today, the nonprofit includes nine different programs: a special education school, summer adventure camp, residential treatment program, boarding school for boys, therapeutic foster care program, mental health clinic, emergency shelter program, family visitation program, and a farm and wildlife rehabilitation center.

The school has many planned events to celebrate this year, including a Centennial Celebration bash in June, hiking tours on the 320-acre campus and more. The full calendar of events is on the Waterford Country School's website.
