Friends & Neighbors: Waterford resident a finalist for book prize

Waterford’s Jeff Turner received word this month that he was declared a 2021 finalist in the Feathered Quill’s annual book review.

Turner rose to the top of the rankings with his book “A Rescued Soul,” a tale capturing the lives of a young runaway with a retired cavalry lieutenant during the turbulence of 1918, and how the two came to share their love of horses. The story weaves its way through New London, Niantic and Uncasville, with the towns adding to the tale’s southeastern Connecticut flavor.

The Feathered Quill is a nationally recognized book review organization for independent authors.

Turner taught at Mitchell College for over 40 years and wrote or co-wrote over 20 academic books. His other novels are “The Way Back,” published in 2013, followed by “The Hero of Willow Creek” (2015), “Lost Boys of the River Camp” (2017) and “The Choices He Made” (2019).
