Groton — Loriana Rand and her sons Aiden, 17, and Dakota, 11, of Southington were walking along the tide line Thursday at Esker Point Beach.

Loriana Rand said they decided to drive down to the coastline area when they noticed how nice it was out. "We couldn't stay inside today," she laughed.

They were looking for shells, rocks and driftwood along the sand.
