Let's Go: Standup Dave Kane to crack Irish funnies at Norwich Arts Center

By special decree of absolutely no one, St. Patrick’s Day is being extended to April 3, when Norwich Arts Center presents, with trepidatious reluctance, Rhode Island comedian Dave Kane.

Kane will be presenting a one-man comedy show, “Jokes My Irish Father Told Me,” at NAC’s Donald L. Oat Theater at 60 Broadway, across the street from Billy Wilson’s Ageing Still.

Kane left Norwich laughing a couple years ago when he took the stage as Father Misgivings, an Irish priest who unloaded on the audience a barrage of blessings, Blarney, belly laughs and bingo.

Kane says his new show will include clean, family-style jokes worthy of a Sunday afternoon in, say, Dublin. He swears it will be appropriate for children.

Kane, a Rhode Island resident, is a veteran radio host and author as well as raconteur and comic performer.

“Jokes My Irish Father Told Me” starts at 3 p.m., with doors opening at 2:30. Tickets are available online at norwicharts.org/events.
