Let's Go: Storytelling Festival comes to downtown New London

The Connecticut Storytelling Center has announced its 41st annual Storytelling Festival and Conference, April 29-30, live in downtown New London.

The weekend features headliner Bill Harley, whom The Washington Post describes as “…a champion yarn-spinner and tunesmith with a sense of wonder, whimsy and mischief…”

Other professional storytellers include Diane Edgecomb and her “A Thousand Doorways” presentation, the true account of her decade-long quest to document the vanishing folkloric tales of the Kurds of Turkey.

The festival’s primary audience is adults, although children and families are welcome at Saturday afternoon’s special Bill Harley Family Concert at the Garde Arts Center.

Schedule and registration details are at connstorycenter.org/festival.htm. The festival is sponsored in part by the Connecticut Office of the Arts and Connecticut Humanities.

“After two years of online festivals due to the pandemic, we are excited to present a LIVE smorgasbord of performances and workshops! We hope the festival’s move out of Connecticut College and into downtown New London venues will bring back our steady audience of 40 years and bring in new story lovers,” said Executive Director Ann Shapiro.
