Friends & Neighbors: Salem resident takes home district humanitarian award
Susan Sullivan, a registered nurse from Salem, was nominated this year by the Salem Lions Club as the District 23C Humanitarian of the Year. Each club in the district sends in a nomination for consideration for the award, which celebrates volunteerism.
Her works were honored at the District 23C’s Humanitarian Awards Banquet on March 13, at Saint Clements Castle. She was recognized for her volunteer work locally, but especially for her continual work for an orphanage in Haiti.
She wrote a book about her experience there, “The Chicken and the Avocado Tree.”
