Michael Alberts, president and CEO of Jewett City Savings Bank, recently announced grants awarded by the Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation on behalf of Kevin Merchant, past President and CEO, and Louis J. Demicco Jr., former Chairman of the Board.

The grants, totaling $10,000, were awarded to a variety of organizations. A grant of $3,000 was provided to Slater Library, $1,250 was donated to the Jewett City Fire Department and the Griswold High School Athletic Department received a donation of $750.

Donations of $1,000 were allocated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children, and the Connecticut Humane Society. Three grants of $500 were given to the Quinebaug Valley Community College Foundation, Project PIN, and Griswold PRIDE. Additionally, two donations of $250 were given to Northeast Opportunities for Wellness and the Living Faith United Methodist Church Community Café.

In response to a special request, the Slater Library was granted an additional $5,000 from the foundation for the restoration of the windows on the third floor of the historic library building.
