New Mystic children’s book introduced with an author signing

’Mystic By the Sea Is the Best Place to Be’ by Tish Rabe

The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce and Mystic’s bestselling author Tish Rabe have partnered to create a new children’s book that is all about Mystic.

“Mystic By the Sea Is the Best Place to Be” introduces children and families to all the popular local sites including the Mystic Aquarium, Mystic Seaport Museum, Olde Mistick Village, the Bascule Bridge and more.

The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the beloved Mystic bridge, and this book is another highlight from a year filled with bridge related events that will culminate on Oct. 15 with fireworks in the Mystic River, presented by Foxwoods Resort Casino.

An author book signing was held July 16 in the Mystic Chamber Bascule Bridge Visitor Center. The book is available to purchase for $8.99.

The book stars a friendly family of seagulls, Mason, Marina and their kids Marco and Misty who fly all around Mystic every day to see what’s going on.

Rabe has written over 180 children’s books for Sesame Street, Disney, Dr. Seuss and many more. Her specialty is writing in rhyme.

starts the day by taking wing.

Colorful, fanciful illustrations by Italian artist Andrea Boatta add life to every page. From Denison, the cheerful octopus who safely works the Bascule Bridge, to giraffes on Main Street and sheep at the Seaport, her imaginative drawings capture the fun of this famous coastal town and celebrate the diversity of the international visitors who make Mystic a favorite destination.

Rabe created her own children’s book company, Tish Rabe Books, in 2020 with a mission of partnering with corporations and non-profit organizations to create books, songs, animations and videos that make a positive difference in the lives of children, parents, teachers and caregivers.

“Sweet Dreams Ahead Time for Bed” helps children get ready for sleep and was written with Pajama Program, a national non-profit that provides new pajamas and storybooks for children facing adversity. “Days Can be Sunny for Bunnies and Money” helps children learn the importance of financial literacy and how to earn, save, spend and give.
