    Dime Bank awarded United Way’s top honor

    Mashantucket ― United Way of Southeastern Connecticut recently recognized local businesses, organizations and volunteers at a Community Celebration event, which Foxwoods Resort Casino sponsored and hosted.

    Dime Bank received United Way’s highest honor, the Chairman’s Award of Excellence.

    Speakers representing each of United Way’s four impact areas ― Basic Needs, Community Wellness, Promoting Independence and Thriving Children ― shared stories about how United Way donations are helping them make a difference in the community. The speakers were Rachel Levy, Jewish Federation of Eastern Connecticut (Basic Needs); Wendy Yagarich, Madonna Place (Community Wellness); Lynn Reichart, Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut (Thriving Children); and Kathy Allen, Thames River Community Service (Promoting Independence).

    United Way Engagement Award winners were:

    • Agency Partner of the Year, United Cerebral Palsy of Eastern Connecticut
    • Chairman's Award of Excellence, Dime Bank
    • Community Collaboration, General Dynamics-Electric Boat and the EB Employees' Community Services Association
    • Community Engagement Award, Pfizer
    • Community Partner of the Year, Norwich Public Utilities
    • Community Support & Generosity, Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation/Foxwoods Resort Casino
    • Coordinator of the Year, Kyle Fusaro, Mohegan Sun
    • Employee Campaign Performance of the Year, Applied Physical Sciences Corp.
    • Gemma E. Moran Award for Inspiration, Don Gordon
    • Innovation Award, Preston Public Schools
    • Loyal Company of the Year, Connecticut College
    • School Engagement of the Year, Norwich Public Schools
    • Special Recognition, Craig Floyd, Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center
    • Volunteer of the Year, Charlie Witt
