Old Lyme ― Two campaign signs supporting Republican candidate for governor Bob Stefanowski on Halls Road in Old Lyme were vandalized during the weekend.
One sign was altered to suggest an obscene act between Stefanowski and former President Donald Trump. The other was changed to say Stefanowski hates women.
Chairman of the Connecticut Republicans Ben Proto called the act “an indication of the times,” and said “it has no place in our political discourse.”
“This is what happens when you normalize, demonizing and lying about your opponents,” Proto said Sunday.
