St. James Episcopal Church hosted a Blessing of the Animals Saturday at Parade Plaza in downtown New London.

Reverend Denise Cabana held a brief service and then blessed each of the animals.

Saint Francis is the patron saint of animals and people were offered a St. Francis medal for their dogs.

The Blessing of the Animals was open to the public and all kinds of animals.

The blessing was originally planed for October 1, but was postponed due to the weather.
