Registration open for Citizens Police Academy in Groton
Groton _ Registration is open for the Town Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy in January.
The Citizens Police Academy is a 10-week program starting Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023 at the police department. The program will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays.
“The goal of this program is to give participants an inside look at the work our officers do on a daily basis and to promote partnership with the community,” according to a program description from police. “Participants will gain hands-on experience with the various units within our department. Class topics include Community Policing, Firearms, Criminal Investigations, K9 Unit, DUI/Narcotics, Fair & Impartial Policing and more – all taught by Groton Town Police officers.“
The program is free, with preference given to those who live and/or work in the Town of Groton. Applications will be accepted through Jan. 6, 2023. A link to the application is available at: https://groton-ct.gov/departments/police/academy.php
