Mel Foti of New London and his dog King, an American bulldog and pitbull mix, pass the Christmas tree on lower State Street in downtown New London as they take their regular evening stroll on Wednesday.
Foti said King leads the walk and often stops at the doors of merchants that he knows will give him a treat.
