Casinos report December gambling revenues

Mohegan Sun’s slot-machine revenue last month climbed 2.6 percent over December 2021, while Foxwoods Resort Casino experienced a 2% decrease, figures released this week show.

Mohegan Sun “won,” or kept, $42.8 million after paying out prizes, up from $41.8 million the same month a year ago. Foxwoods kept $29.9 million, down from $30.5 million.

The casinos sent 25% of their slots winnings to the state, with Mohegan Sun contributing $10.7 million and Foxwoods $7.6 million.

The casinos combined to pay the state another $4 million in taxes on their gross gaming revenue from online gambling, and $1.5 million in taxes on their gross gaming revenue from online sports betting.

The Connecticut Lottery Corp., which operates an online sports betting platform as well as more than a half-dozen retail sports betting locations paid $254,734 in state taxes on its gross gaming revenue.
