    Let’s Go: Public libraries celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day

    When was the last time you took your child to the library? Or visited the library yourself? On Saturday, Feb. 4, public libraries throughout Connecticut and beyond will celebrate the 12th annual Take Your Child to the Library Day with free events and activities for children and families.

    Here’s what’s happening locally:

    Lyme Public Library is hosting Imagine Musical Yoga. Come visit the library for a children’s musical yoga class with Ms. Joan Fisler. This class is for kids ages 2 and up and their grownups. Siblings are welcome. Register by emailing programreg@lymepl.org. A variety of book-related crafts will be available for children to take part in throughout the day. Make sure to check out some books and get a library card if you need one.

    Stop by East Lyme Public Library for Take Your Child to the Library Day prizes, bookmarks, and stickers.

    Stop by The Bill Memorial Library in Groton at 11 am for a live, in-person family singalong featuring special guest Freddie the Dog.

    In celebration of Take Your Child to the Library Day, Groton Public Library invites you to celebrate Stretch’s birthday with pirate adventure. Festivities will include crafts, activities, and a treasure.

    Celebrate at Ledyard Public Library with a 1:30 p.m. program by Ed Popielarczyk: Magician, Balloon Twister, and Flea Circus. Please register to save your seat but drops ins are welcome.

    Have fun all day at Mystic & Noank Library for Take Your Child to the Library Day. Spend time crafting, reading, and exploring your library.

    Public Library of New London’s Take Your Child to the Library Day activities include crafts (do in the library or take home) and a special storytime. Contact the library for details.

    Celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day at Otis Library in Norwich with an 11 a.m. show by Ed Popielarczyk, a self-proclaimed Comedy Magic, Balloon Twisting, Flea Circus Ring Master!” Fun for the whole family. Then stay for family craft day.

    Families are invited to the Preston Public Library for Take Your Child to the Library Day fun: Meet animal friends from 10:30 am – noon, an animal scavenger hunt, and free book giveaway.

    Stonington Free Library is hosting a book giveaway. Children and teens can choose a free book and bring home a snack to enjoy with their new book.

    Join Waterford Public Library for family-friendly activities and crafts throughout the day as well as special performances in the library meeting room – 10:30 a.m., Move and Groove with local musician Steve Elci; 2:30 p.m., interactive show with Cricket and Nubble, a therapy dog.
