Mohegan Sun has canceled an upcoming concert featuring the rock band who performed 20 years ago at a West Warwick, R.I., club where a fire claimed the lives of 100 people.

The band Great White was slated to perform on March 25 at Mohegan Sun Arena with Stryper and Steven Adler of Guns N’ Roses. The concert fell close to the 20-year anniversary of a fire during Great White’s concert at the Station Nightclub.

A Feb. 20, 2003, fire inside the club on sparked by a pyrotechnics display claimed the lives of 100 people, including several from Connecticut.

“Out of respect and sensitivity to the anniversary, we have postponed the upcoming Great White performance,” Tom Cantone, president of sports and entertainment for Mohegan Sun, said in a statement to WPRI.
