    Memories: Norwich Harbor, 1932

Norwich Harbor, 1932. This view is from Laurel Hill Avenue, with the West Side hill in the background. The large building in the center is a storage garage for railroad boxcars. The 1938 Hurricane destroyed the building, the boxcars, and the tracks. Today, this point in the harbor is the location of the Howard T. Brown Park and gazebo.

Ken Keeley is the author of numerous pictorial history books of Norwich, Taftville, New London, The History of the Rose Arts Festival - 1965-1980, The History of Ocean Beach Park - 1882-present day, and The History of the Norwich Little League & Farm System, 1950-1975. His books are available at La Stella’s Italian Bakery in Taftville, La Stella’s Pizzeria in downtown Norwich, and the Backus Hospital Gift Shop.
