New London ― The public is invited to join a community choir event Sunday at Parade Plaza starting at 4:30 p.m.

Curtis Goodwin, former city councilor and co-founder of the New London Talent Show, is organizing “One Voice Community Choir” to bring the community together.

Goodwin said he was inspired to create the community event after seeing a social media post calling for the faith-based community to unite following the death of 17-year-old D’Nazia Uzzle last month.

“As someone who learned valuable lessons in morality and compassion from the church, I believe successful communities rely on their active participation,” he said. “We must come together and lean on our faith-based institutions to build a better future.”

Goodwin said there is no main church affiliation. DJ Timmy Talent will play music and there will be a guest speaker.
