New London – The New London Homeless Hospitality Center is the recipient of a one-time $50,000 grant through a housing assistance program aimed at combating homelessness in the state.

The funding was approved by the state Housing Advisory Panel as part of the Interest on Real Estate Brokers Trust Account Program, which supports first-time home buyers, counseling services and housing subsidies, according to a news release.

The New London center assists adults facing homelessness through partnerships with public and private agencies. The group, which operates a shelter and daytime hospitality center on State Pier Road, will assist 600 residents this year, according to its website.
