New London Landmarks hosts program on funding for homeowners, buyers

New London Landmarks will host a free virtual lecture this month on state and municipal funding opportunities for homeowners and moderate-income home buyers.

Attendees will be able to ask questions of speakers during the online meeting, to be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Erin Fink, an architectural historian with the State Historic Preservation Office, will explain Connecticut’s Historic Homes Rehabilitation Tax Credit program, including the application process, what sort of repairs the program funds, and how and when homeowners receive funding.

To be eligible for the program, houses need to be listed on the National or State Register of Historic Places and owner-occupied.

Eileen Baker, Housing and Rehabilitation Manager for the City of New London, will talk about the city’s Housing Conservation Program and the New Home/New London 2 program.  These federally-funded programs provide income-qualified homeowners and first-time home buyers in New London with financial assistance for home repairs and down payments.

The event is sponsored in part by Connecticut's State Historic Preservation Office, Fiddleheads Food Co-op and Parker Benjamin, Inc.
