Black Wolves return to the comforts of home

The New England Black Wolves lost a game at Saskatchewan on Dec. 23, 24-11, but returned to the win column the next time out in the comforts of their own home at Mohegan Sun Arena.

That's what they'll try to do again Friday night, as the first-place Black Wolves (4-2) take on Buffalo (4-3) beginning at 7:30 p.m. in an East Division matchup at Mohegan Sun. The Wolves, 3-0 at home, are coming off another lopsided loss on the road last time out, falling to Toronto 21-9 on Jan. 27.

“Yeah, it's looked like a lot of different things,” New England coach Glenn Clark said in his weekly conference call. “… It's been a different kind of start because there are all kinds of things we're trying to improve on, but, you've heard me say this a lot, 'It's a results-based league' and we have been getting the results, which is a positive thing.”

Kevin Crowley leads the Black Wolves this season with 15 goals and has a scoring streak of 25 straight games, dating back to May 1, 2016. Shawn Evans leads the team in assists (24) and points (35) and ranks second in goals (11).

Buffalo is led by Mitch Jones and Dhane Smith with 15 goals each and Smith leads the Bandits with 32 assists and 47 points. Buffalo is coming off a 16-14 victory Saturday at Rochester.
