    Coast Guard football falls to Catholic, 30-7

    Washington — Madden Lowe threw a pair of touchdowns and ran for another leading Catholic to 30-7 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference football game on Saturday.

    Lowe was 23 of 32 for 204 yards with two touchdowns while adding a 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

    Catholic (5-2, 3-0) finished with 394 yards of total offense, 204 passing and 190 on the ground while the Bears had 192 total yards, 136 passing and 56 rushing.

    Tafari Wall was 17 of 21 for 136 yards while Jared Colletti led Coast Guard (2-5, 0-3) with 18 carries for 54 yards. Matt Ross led the Bears with seven receptions for 72 yards.

    Lowe threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Mark Cheffers on 4th and 12 with 8:09 left in the first half.

    Jacob Wanger would return the ensuing kickoff 87 yards, but a holding call would bring it back.

    Fabrizio Reilly booted a 41-yard field goal with 1:10 left in the half as the Cardinals took a 10-0 lead to halftime.

    Catholic would score on its first possession of the second half with Lowe's 1-yard run capping the 82 yard drive to make the score 16-0 after the failed PAT with 5:45 left in the third.

    The Bears would turn the ball over on downs at the Cardinal 2 to close out the third quarter and Kevin Liccardi's 61-yard run two plays later made the score 23-0 with 14:05 left in the game.

    Lowe threw a 10-yard touchdown to Preston Jeffrey with 11:23 left to make the score 30-0.

    The Bears got on the board on a 2-yard run by Spencer McMillion and Finnegan Hall added the extra point with 3:35 left.

    Ryan Vigo led the Bears with eight tackles in a game where neither team turned the ball over.

    Coast Guard has a bye week before hosting MIT in a NEWMAC game on Oct. 20th at 1:30 p.m.
