Fitness competition to benefit Westerly YMCA outreach program

Westerly — Precision Fitness, 39 High St., will hold a five-event fitness contest from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday to benefit the Westerly Pawcatuck YMCA's Reach Out To Youth program.

The events in the competition are secret so participants can not practice them in advance. Past competitions have included rope slams, TRX low rows, equalizer push ups, core sprinters and jam ball slams.

The object is to get the maximum number of repetitions for each event and the total combined score determines the winner. The entry fee is $20 for participants and $10 for spectators.

Precision Fitness owner Todd Cambio will donate the profits from the event to the Westerly Pawcatuck YMCA's Reach Out To Youth program, which gives children, teens, adults and families the opportunity to benefit from the Y programs and services that they otherwise could not afford.

Last year, the Reach Out to Youth campaign supported more than 1,300 individuals by giving them access to YMCA programming and camps, family events, flu clinics and blood drives. It also provided swim lessons to more than 2,100 children, teens and special populations.
